KIU Titans will play Power Basketball Club this evening at 9 pm in the National Basketball League as they look to extend their winning run in the second round.

The game will be played under the floodlights of YMCA court in Wandegeya.

Friday night's clash marks the first time KIU Titans are playing since beating Livingstone Basketball Club 88-48 on April 28th, 2024.

The team has only played three games in the second round of the season, beating UCU Canons 50-48, Our Savior Basketball Club, 87-61, and Livingstone Basketball Club, 88-48 in the process.

Julius Lutwama's Titans will look to maintain their momentum when they meet the rejuvenated five-time champions D-Mark Power who have been greatly boosted by their recent signings.

Team Captain Collins Kasujja who missed the last two games due to a concussion said he is now fully fit and available for selection on Friday.

"It feels good to be back to full fitness and I am ready to do my best and help the Titans to keep the best momentum," he said.

Kasujja also expressed confidence in the team's ability to stop Power.

"I've watched D-Mark Power recently, and indeed, they are a hardworking side and are looking motivated nowadays, especially after new additions like Soro," he noted.

"I must say we have all it takes to stop them, and we shall not take them for granted. We just need to play our game while limiting their strength," he added.

Stanley Mugerwa and Denis Omara have also returned to full fitness and will be part of the squad travelling to Wandegeya on Friday while Ivan Lumanyika is yet to gain match fitness according to the club's website.

KIU Titans head Coach, Julius Lutwama is adamant about changing his strategy in Friday's encounter.

"We are ready to start from where we stopped on our previous outing and having been on a long break, it looks like we are beginning from zero," he said.

"Our strategy hasn't changed; we will approach D-Mark Power like we do to a defending champion. We respect every opponent in the league, and we take on a game at a time," he added.

KIU Titans' next game is on Wednesday, May 22 against Ndejje Angels.
