Course Description

This course provides the learners with basic knowledge and skills on how to handle research. It tunes students understanding on issues that relate to research process, importance of research as a problem solving tool.

It tunes students understanding on issues that relate to research process, importance of research as a problem solving tool.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of this course students are expected to;

  • Define and explain the importance of research and the research process
  • Understand why research is said to be scientific.
  • Explain basic concepts of problem identification, problem statement, and purpose of the study, objectives, significance, and scope of the study.
  • Understand the importance of literature review
  • Use the steps involved in identification of literature.
  • Be familiar with research methodology, the different types of research designs and their importance in the study.
  • Use and understand the importance of sampling, different sampling techniques.
  • Explain the data collection methods and instruments: advantages and disadvantages of each.
  • Understand what data analysis is and its importance.
  • Write proposals and do research.
