WARDAH MUMMY RAJAB- GYAGENDA is the Directorate of Higher Degrees and Research at Kampala International University (KIU). Prior to that, she was the Director Research, Innovations, Internationalisation, and Extension at the same institution for 2 years, and also at the Islamic University in Uganda for 5 years before that.
Rajab-Gyagenda holds a Ph.D in International Affairs & Development from Clark Atlanta University (Georgia, USA), a Master of Science in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Clemson University (South Carolina, USA), and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Administration & Frenchfrom Makerere University (Kampala, Uganda).
Rajab-Gyagenda also does national service work including serving as the Directorate for Ethics and Integrity in the Office of the President. She has also been a Board Member (Commissioner) with Uganda Communications Commission where her responsibilities were oversight, directional, and advisory. While there, she was also the Finance Committee Chairperson, overseeing the activities of the UCC Finance Department. She has also served community in her position as Co-Founder for Alliance for Health in the African Diaspora, Inc. (AHADI), Atlanta – Georgia, initiating and coordinating the 2010 US Conference on African Immigrant Health (USCAIH), developing and shaping the Office of Minority Health Resource Center (OMHRC’s) African immigrant Health Initiative (AHI), and being a founding member and task force committee member for the National African HIV/AIDS Initiative (NAHI). Rajab-Gyagenda is also a member of the HIV/AIDS Immigrants and Refugees Advisory Board of Georgia, the East Africa American Business Council (EABC, now EADBC), and even supervised elections with the League of Women Voters (Miami-Dade County, FL). She has provided consultant services as the Vice President (East Africa) of the Bionas Development Berhad, BATC Malaysia, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Bionas East Africa Group, a Trainer/Resource Person for the Office of Minority Health Resource Center (OMHRC), an International Election Monitor for The Carter Center, and a Swahili Instructor for Emory Center for Lifelong Learning. Rajab-Gyagenda, in her capacity, has also provided technical support for the Sudanese Refugee Women’s Federation, Inc., & Women Watch Afrika, Inc.
She has presented at a number of conferences including the 1st KIU Research and Innovations Conference (KRIC) 2019, the 24th Annual Management Conference Doctoral Symposium 2019 at Makerere University, and the 2nd International Islamic Universities Conference in 2016 to mention but a few. She has also published a number of articles in journals like the Journal of Health Care for Poor and Underserved, the Muslim Institutions of Higher Education in Postcolonial Africa, the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, and the Islamic University Journal to mention but a few.
Rajab-Gyagenda works relentlessly to ensure that the standards of KIU as a Higher Institution of Learning are maintained, by serving diligently in her capacity.
