KIU, Main Campus - 11 more cases of Coronavirus were confirmed and announced by H.E President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Tuesday, 31st March 2020. This has brought the total number of COVID-19 cases to 44 in Uganda.

The 11 who were diagnosed with Coronavirus, according to the Ministry of Health, are choir members of Watoto Church, who were all under institutional quarantine at the time of testing.

The Ministry of Health, through Twitter, also urged the population to stay home and stay safe, but most importantly, to remain calm but vigilant and continue practicing the preventive measures.

President Museveni also remains confident, with hope that Uganda is steadily limiting further spread of the pandemic. He went on to address the nation on Tuesday night, about the ways through which the virus is spread.

“The first mode of transmission is when a sick person sneezes or coughs near you, emitting moisture. The second way is when an infected individual pollutes surfaces and you touch the same surface, and then touch your soft openings on the face," said the President while addressing the nation.

He also added to say that, "the virus can attack people with other health complications such as HIV or Cancer."

With the new guidelines put in place by the President to curb further spread of the virus, there is still hope that the pandemic will be defeated.
