KIU, Western Campus – KIU Teaching Hospital nurses were yesterday joined by the Assistant District Health Officer (ADHO) for Bushenyi district, Eliab Tayebwa, to clean and dump dust the Accident and Emergency (A&E) department, which is currently housing the COVID-19 emergency centre, in activities to celebrate the International Nurses Day.

The day, which actually falls on May 12, celebrates the contributions of nurses to the healthcare system and this year’s day is special in that nurses all over the world are fighting hard to control the spread of the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Principal Nursing Officer of the hospital Elizabeth Kamahoro expressed her gratitude to Tayebwa for taking some time off and celebrate their special day with them.

“We were humbled to be joined by the ADHO, Bushenyi district Mr Eliab Tayebwa to clean the A&E department,” she said.

“Thank you, everyone, for the support and encouragement, especially during this pandemic period,” Kamahoro added.
