COVID-19 Updates: 7 Frontline Health Workers Test Positive for COVID-19 in Uganda

KIU Main Campus - On 31st May 2020, Uganda's Ministry of Health announced the first cases of Coronavirus among its health workers.�

The confirmed cases included three nurses, two doctors, and two senior level staff, all of whom are currently admitted at Entebbe Grade B and Mulago National Specialised Hospitals.�

"3 of the health workers were confirmed among samples tested yesterday 30 May, 2020. Four others were confirmed today making the total COVID-19 case count 417," the Ministry tweeted.�

Also, on 30th May, Uganda registered the highest number of COVID-19 cases in a single day, 84.

"Today, 30 May, 2020, 84 new COVID-19 cases confirmed bringing the total confirmed cases to 413. 52 new cases are truck drivers: 50 arrived via Elegu, while 2 arrived via Busia. 32 cases are contacts to previously confirmed cases. All were under quarantine at the time of test," tweeted Dr. Acheng via the weekend.�

The total COVID-19 case count in Uganda as of 1st June 2020 was 417, with 72 recoveries.�
