KIU, MAIN CAMPUS - The Ministry of Health on Wednesday, 29th April, announced two more COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number to 81.

This was after a total of 2002 people were tested by the Uganda Virus Research Institute, including 1,703 truck drivers at border points of entry and 299 individuals under quarantine and the community.

All the truck drivers tested negative of COVID-19 but sadly, 2 males out of the 299 samples taken from the community and individuals in quarantine, tested positive.

"2 new COVID-19 cases confirmed out of 299 samples tested among the community and individuals under quarantine," the Ministry of Health announced.

Both cases are male; 24-year-old Ugandan and a 21-year-old Burundian refugee.

"They are under quarantine at Rakai hospital as they are contacts to a confirmed Burundian refugee case," tweeted the Ministry of Health.

On Tuesday, 28th April, all samples tested a total of 2400, returned negative giving the people a ray of hope.

With the few days left to the end of the 21 days added to the lockdown, there is still hope that Uganda will curb the spread of the virus.
