The number of Ugandans who have recovered from COVID-19 has surpassed the 1,000 mark after the Ministry of Health announced 39 new recoveries in their daily COVID-19 update released today afternoon.
5 new cases were also confirmed from the 2,694 samples tested on July 28, including 4 alerts from communities and 1 contact of a previously confirmed case. No truck driver tested positive.
All the confirmed cases are from the Kampala Metropolitan area and one of the alerts who is admitted in the Intensive Care Unit of Rubaga Hospital, awaiting evacuation to Mulago Hospital, is under investigation by the surveillance teams of the ministry to ascertain the source of his infection.
8 truck drivers tested positive and were turned back to where they came from.
This means that Uganda still has only 12 active cases on admission and though there is concern that there could be more undiscovered cases in the community, the latest trend of positive cases shows that the COVID-19 curve could be flattening in Uganda.
