KIU, Main Campus - The Ministry of Health has issued the a statement in a bid to clarify the sudden death of a Kenyan truck driver who was found dead under truck on Saturday evening, 13th June 2020.

The driver was found dead under the truck, registration number KAT 578T, that was travelling from Kampala and was headed to the Uganda-Kenya border.

On Saturday, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, the Health Minister said that, the ministry had commenced investigations into the matter.

"This is slightly strange because all interstate truck drivers are tested and informed of their results before they are allowed into to the country," Aceng said.

Now, according the statement that was issued by the Ministry of Health, the investigations that were conducted revealed that he entered Uganda via Malaba point of entry on 31th May 2020 with a COVID-19 negative test.

Dr Henry Mwebesa, the Director General Health Services, says that a sample was taken off his remains by the surveillance team for a re-test and found negative for COVID-19.

The government and health experts urge the public to continue abiding by the measures that are put in place to prevent the mass spread of Coronavirus, including observing social distance and frequent hand wash with soap among  others.
