COVID-19 Updates: President to Address the Nation on the Pandemic at 8:00 P.M.

KIU, Main Campus – At 8:00 P.M. this evening, President Yoweri K. Museveni will address the nation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Tonight, at 8 P.M., I will deliver my 12th televised/radio address to the country on the subject of the COVID-19 pandemic. I urge you all to continue observing the guidelines given by the government and health officials so that we stop the spread of this disease," the President tweeted.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health announced that yesterday, 2,225 samples were tested by the Uganda Research Institute and found negative. 

This indicates that the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases remain 79 and with no registered death.

According the statement from the Ministry of Health, 319 samples were from the community while 2238 samples were of truck drivers at the boarder points of entry.

“18 confirmed cases are under treatment in stable condition in different hospitals. Two are at Mulago Hospital, nine at Entebbe Hospital, four at Arua Regional Referral Hospital, one at Jinja Regional Referral Hospital, one at Masaka Regional Referral Hospital, and one at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital,” the statement reads in part.
