COVID-19 Updates: Uganda Registers 18 new COVID-19 Cases as Numbers Climb to 971

KIU, Main Campus - The ministry of Health has announced that it has confirmed 18 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total of confirmed cases to 971.

Seven of these are truck drivers, three of whom arrived from Kenya via Malaba while four arrived via Busia, Vurra, Padea, and Elegu Points of Entry. 

Ten are contacts and alerts, five of whom are from Tororo, three from Luweero and two from Amuru districts. 

There were twenty-seven foreign truck drivers who tested positive for COVID-19 at the border entry points, 24 of whom were Kenyans, two were Congolese and one Eritrean. All 27 were denied entry into the country. 

According to the ministry, Uganda has registered 896 recoveries, including both Ugandans and non-Ugandans and no COVID-19 related deaths to-date.
