KIU, Main Campus - Kampala International University (KIU) students, in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, have vowed to stay home as advised by H.E President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni while addressing the nation on measures to curb the spread of the deadly pandemic.

President Museveni recommended that all students from primary to university should stay at their parents'/guardians' homes instead of loitering around in the trading centres, markets, and other places of gathering.

“The reason as to why schools and universities were closed was to ensure your safety since they were among the public gathering places. But not for you to loiter in the markets, trading centres, attend weddings and other parties, or visiting friends, but to stay home with your parents until the situation has calmed down,’’ said the President.

Shantal Linda, a second-year student pursuing Bachelor of Business Administration, expressed her gratitude to the President for putting in place extra measures to ensure the safety of Ugandans.

"I appreciate the President for putting in place all possible measures to ensure the safety of Ugandans. However much the semester has been cut short, it is okay since life and good health come first," Linda said.

She also went on to thank the KIU for implementing the e-learning system which has enabled all KIU students to access notes so as to continue studying during their stay at home.
