KIU, Western Campus – Students who could not return to their respective countries due to the airport lockdown imposed on Entebbe International airport by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on March 22nd, are safely being housed in a university hostel to protect them from COVID-19.

The Dean of Students at KIU Western Campus, Maureen Asiimwe said the move was to ensure their safety while also following the Presidential directives on the safety measures meant to protect all people in the country from contracting Coronavirus.

“We are keeping 69 International students, who could not travel back to their countries in one of our hostels," Asiimwe said.

“We have put in place safety measures at the entrance to the hostel and are not allowing any visitors inside," she added.

Asiimwe also advised other students who returned to their homes to adhere to the Ministry’s guidelines to ensure their health.

President Yoweri Museveni ordered the closure of Entebbe International Airport and all national borders, as one of the safety measures to stop people with COVID-19 from entering the country.
