KIU, Main Campus - Mordecai Muriisa Martin, a former Mass Communication student at KIU and current news anchor with NBS TV, under his organization, Spreading Wings International, has donated several items to over ten less privileged families in the areas of Bwaise, Makerere kivulu, Katanga and Kamwokya.

The four-year-old annual outreach dubbed Gifted Hands Charity Outreach for this year was organized under the theme, ‘’Through you (GOD), we shall overcome.’’

Mordecai said that they intended to spread love through giving back and supporting the less privileged families and individuals. He said that he draws inspiration from his personal life which has been tremendously supported by people’s generosity.

‘’I am inspired by my life story. Many people who are not related to me have been able to support me up to where I am so why not do the same to someone else. It’s for love,’’ Mordecai admitted.

He also believes that the hand that gives is more blessed than the one that receives, just like one of his favourites, the late Reggae star Lucky Dube.

‘’Blessed is the hand that giveth than the one that taketh.’’

Mordecai disclosed that he and the team carried out substantive research in Bwaise, Katanga, Kivulu and Kamwokya to Identify the beneficiaries before the outreach.

The items given out included beddings, clothes, shoes, mosquito nets and food. The team also contributed some money to help beneficiaries settle their rent arrears for November and December.

Mordecai was joined by workmates at Next Media, friends and fellow alumni from KIU among whom also belonged to HTM Give and Give Foundation (founded by KIU Alumni) that contributed items towards the outreach.
