KIU, Main Campus - On 25th November 2018, Uganda and the world woke up to the horrific news of the MV Templar boat accident that had occurred on Lake Victoria leaving close to 40 party goers dead in the night of Saturday 24th November 2018.

A KIU student then, Masole Brian, was being hunted by several news agencies and outlets to narrate to the world how he had rescued lives of many people from dying in water during the accident. He was also thought to have the first witness account of the events and circumstances that led to the devastating accident.

He is inevitably the hero of that night having also saved the life of celebrated singer Irene Namubiru.

"Irene gave me her phone and asked me to keep it safe immediately I removed her from water. Hardly did I recognize Irene not until one of her colleagues called asking her whereabouts," Brian narrated.

Brian had gone for a short weekend outing at Mutoola Beach alongside eight classmates on the day the accident occurred.

"We heard people shouting at a distance on our way home on to discover their boat was sinking," Brian said.

One of Brian’s friends present then said that they seceded to branch to the nearby Mutima beach so that Brian would return into the water to rescue the dying crew aboard the MV Templar.
