KIU Holds Orientation for August Intake Postgraduate Students

KIU, Main Campus - KIU Henry Baligwa, a student of Bachelor of Fine Arts with Education from KIU was among the awardees of the RCE Youth Art Challenge: From Waste to Art organized by the Global RCE Service Centre at the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS), in partnership with UNESCO.
The Challenge centered around SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), tasked participants to create artwork that would inspire others worldwide to use resources more efficiently, reduce waste, and ultimately shift to sustainable consumption and production.
In his remark, Henry noted, "Surprisingly my artwork you are observing right now is a manifestation of waste reuse and will sensitize generations and generations of humans to come.
"My artwork portrays an abstract manifestation of environmental protection and conservation through sensitization of current and future generations as well as the need to love and care for biodiversity, ecosystems, and the planet, he concluded.
Henry Baligwa was among the 6 awardees under 16-25 years.
During the challenge, submissions were received across three categories (15 years and under, 16-25 years, and 26-35 years), with 212 entries from 34 countries. Artworks were expressed through a range of mediums, including craftwork, paintings, sculptures, and digital art.
