KIU Rangers forward Sharon Kirabo has been called up to the national basketball team, the Gazelles, for training ahead of the Federation of International Basketball Associations (FIBA) Women’s AfroBasket Qualifiers.

Uganda will participate in the qualifiers, which take place in Kigali, Rwanda from July 12th to 17th, in which they will face off with Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, and Burundi.

The winner will then qualify for the AfroBasket tournament slated to take place in Yaounde, Cameroon from September 17th to 26th.

Kirabo is the only player outside the top three teams who has been called up and many people took to KIU Rangers official Facebook page to congratulate her.

Shillah Dornam, one of KIU Rangers’ most ardent fans posted, “Congrats our queen and fighter” and Joe Gaddafi, another fan said “Congratulations. She’s good and can do better.”

We wish Kirabo a flawless stay with the national team for the duration of the AfroBasket Qualifiers!
