KIU Staff Profile: Dr. Muhammad Tukur Wants to Give More to KIU and the Community

KIU, Western Campus – Dr. Muhammad Tukur, the Dean of the Faculty of Education at the Western Campus says that he wants to make more contributions to KIU and the community.

Dr. Tukur, who doubles as a Senior Lecturer, says he can do that by using his position as a Professor in Science Education to serve the community better.

“God willing, I want to use my position as a Professor in Science Education to make more contributions to KIU and the community in general,” he says.

He stresses that is why he has always strived to ensure that there is a high level of cooperation between the lecturers and the students because it is very important for their education.

“The cooperation between us and the students is very okay and interesting. It is cordial, students feel free to consult their lecturers and they are respectful,” he adds.

Some of the subjects he teaches include Philosophy of Knowledge at the Ph.D. level, Institutional Pedagogy at the Ph.D. and Masters level, Curriculum Development at the Masters level, and Methodology of Teaching Biology at the Postgraduate and undergraduate levels.

Dr. Tukur says he enjoys working at KIU Western Campus because it is convenient for the employees for several reasons.

“There is provision of accommodation and utilities, a good salary, good mode of the examinations and monitoring by Quality Assurance in terms of teaching and learning,” he notes. 

He reveals that some of his memorable moments at KIU were when they celebrated World Teacher’s Day as a Faculty when he had just been appointed the Dean and also his first time attending the KIU graduation ceremony.

Dr. Tukur advises students that when joining KIU, they should study very hard, be good ambassadors, and shun away from any form of malpractice. He encourages fellow staff to be committed, honest, dedicated, and try their best in all positions.
