KIU Titans and Rangers Impress in Exciting start of the 2024 NBL Season.

KIU, Main Campus- KIU basketball clubs made a noteworthy beginning to the 2024 season of the National Basketball League, which commenced on Friday at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.

KIU Rangers began with a hard-fought 61-57 victory over JT Lady Jaguars after overtime while KIU Titans fell to Neighbours Namuwongo Blazers 59-63 on a thrilling Friday evening.

Amaniyo delivered an impressive performance with a substantial double of 25 points and 20 rebounds, leading KIU Rangers to victory.  She was named player of the game for her scintillating display.

KIU Rangers assistant captain, Sharon Kirabo also stood out with 17 points,10 rebounds and two assists.

Former KIU Titans duo, Joseph Chuma and Innocent Ochera contributed greatly to help Namuwongo Blazers edge the Titans 59-63 in a thrilling contest that had the crowd on the edge of their seats throughout the match. 

It was a memorable debut for Tembo Pierre Kasereka and Juf Mpiya in the KIU Titans jersey as they helped the team to push a well oiled Namuwongo Blazers to the edge. Their enormous flair and prowess on the rim won the hearts of the crowd at the fully packed Lugogo indoor Arena.

Tembo who was arguably the best player on day one finished the game with 18 points and 5 rebounds though he left it prematurely after picking an injury two minutes on the clock. His compatriot, Mpiya scored 13 points and five rebounds.

Edgar Munaba stood out as the only Titan with a double-double during the game. The forward registered 13 points secured an impressive 16 rebounds.

 KIU Titans next game is scheduled for Friday, February 2nd, 2024, where they will face off against UCU Canons.
