KIU, Main Campus-Both KIU Titans and Rangers will this weekend play in the National basketball league after a two weeks rest due to the FIBA Women Afrobasket tournament in Kigali Rwanda which concluded on Sunday. Redemption-seeking Rangers have two back-to-back University derbies in two days.
KIU Titans will resume their NBL treasure hunt against KCCA Panthers in Saturday's latest tip-off (6:00 PM EAT) while the Rangers will open their busy Weekend against revenge-seeking Kampala University Lady Eagles at midday on Saturday before facing Nkumba Lady Marines in Sunday's early tip-off (10:00 AM EAT). All the games will be played at the YMCA court in Wandegeya.
The Rangers who lost their previous game to the JKL lady Dolphins will begin life without their leading scorer, Diana Letaru who this week left for the US to unite with her new team at Grayson College in Texas.
Nevertheless, the ladies in green will be boosted by the presence of new signing Dorcas Marondera who is expected to fill the gap Letaru has left. And with her incredible experience, it is hoped that she could be the game changer for team KIU Rangers.
On the other hand, KIU Titans announced Carey Odhiambo Alias T9 as the new head coach this week and the game against KCCA Panthers on Saturday evening will be the Kenyan's first test.
The Titans won their last game beating UPDF Tomahawks 64-58 and will need to build from that if they are to keep their season-long ambitions on the right track. The players have had enough time to relax and recover and there is no reason not to expect the very best.
Both KIU Titans and Rangers have made it clear that their main goal this season is to go all the way to the finals and with the season taking to its tail end, there can never be any room for error.
