The KIU Titans staged a stunning comeback to beat the UCU Canons 85-78 yesterday in their National Basketball League game at the KIU Courts.
The thrilling game, which was a topsy-turvy affair for both teams, left fans guessing until the last seconds of the game.
The UCU Canons went into the last quarter with a narrow 60-59 lead but the Titans rallied back to win the last quarter 25-19 to draw level on points with the visitors on the league table.
New signing Faisal Aden (in the picture) was the mastermind of this key victory, which throws the Titans’ title aspirations back on track, a welcome result after losing to JKL Dolphins last time out.
Meanwhile, the KIU Rangers suffered their first defeat of the season as they were outclassed by a resilient KCCA Leopards side.
The 46-62 loss was their first in four games and they fell behind right from the start, losing the first quarter 13-17 and trailing 25-32 at halftime.
But the most damage was arguably done in the third quarter as the table leaders lost that one 04-13, and despite making a late rally to draw 17-17 in the last quarter, KCCA put up a spirited defensive display to quash any thoughts of a late Rangers onslaught.
