KIU, Main Campus- KIU Titans' titanic clash with City Oilers scheduled for Sunday hangs in the balance after the National Council of Sports (NCS) proposed the suspension of the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) National Basketball League (NBL) due to the upsurge in COVID-19 cases in the country.

The announcement was made on Thursday, June 3.

The suspension that would cut across all FUBA leagues including the Men’s first division and the Lady’s first division comes with only two matches per team for the regular season to end. All matches were tentatively set to be played in two days this weekend.

‘’The main purpose of this letter is to direct you with immediate effect to suspend all planned fixtures/games of the   2021 National Basketball League currently ongoing in the country until further notice,’’ the statement read.

This website contacted FUBA but the federation was yet to give a response by press time as repeated messages went unanswered.

Many KIU Titans fans expressed disappointment at the suspension of the league at a time when Titans were gathering momentum and had their best chance in years of snatching the title from the Oilers.

‘’City Oilers have narrowly survived, this was a weekend of revenge but nothing we can do because this is about life,’’ said Isaac Wamala, a prominent KIU Titans fan.

Another Titans fan only identified as Sheila assured the City Oilers that revenge never ages. She said that they are going to wait until the league resumes to see their boys embarrass City Oilers.
