The Head of Department Journalism and Media Studies, Owade Joan Adongo, is to represent Kampala International University (KIU) at the Academic Book Chapter Workshop on,' The Impact of Climate Change on Peace and Security’, slated for 23rd Feb 2020 to 27th Feb 2020 at Subiaco Retreat Center, Nairobi.

Owade Joan has served KIU since 2007. She has published academic peer-reviewed journals and is currently working on a paper addressing the incessant electoral violence in Kenya and the role of the media in de-escalating the violence.

The workshop, under the theme: ‘Reflection on Peace and Security In Africa and Opportunities for Innovation’ will provide an opportunity for participants to spend time writing and supporting each other in the writing process. This way, they get to learn about publishing in international journals thereby placing KIU on the global map.

The participants will also be able to draw up individual pathways to publishing which will reveal their understanding about drafts, abstracts, whilst following author guidelines and submitting online.

Over 28 topics shall be discussed and edited. Some of these topics include regional dynamics in peacemaking and the role of the African Union and IGAD, the impact of peacemaking on cultural and national identities, and the role of non-state actors in the state-led peace processes.

KIU is privileged to be the only private University in Uganda being represented at this great writing book workshop.
