KIU, MAIN CAMPUS: Naimo Mohamed Ali Ismail, one of the candidates eagerly awaiting KIU’s 30th graduation ceremony, attributes her academic success to hard work. She expressed relief that her efforts had finally paid off.

Naimo shared that her pursuit of a Master's in Statistics was initially filled with uncertainties but became a transformative experience, shaping her into an indispensable leader.

“Looking back, one of my lowest moments was when I was still a fresher at KIU. My biggest fear was failing to accomplish my dream, especially since I had been granted a scholarship. I kept asking myself if I would benefit from the opportunity I had been given,” Naimo recalled.

As time passed, her fear of failure gradually disappeared as she gained expertise in research and developed confidence in expressing her ideas.

“My academic journey culminated in achieving my dream, and I am eagerly waiting to graduate with a Master’s degree in Statistics,” she added.

Naimo also highlighted how her involvement with the Somali Students Association, particularly as Minister of Finance, allowed her to grow as a leader.

“I developed a fundraising system to support fellow Somali students, fostering a sense of community and solidarity,” Naimo revealed.

Naimo plans to return to Somalia after graduation, with a mission to empower youth and create opportunities for those in need.

“As I prepare to return to my country, I am driven by a new purpose. Empowering youth, particularly women, through education. I want to create opportunities for others, just as KIU provided for me,” she emphasized.

Naimo encourages her fellow graduands and students to recognize the potential within themselves and others, seize opportunities, and pave the way for those behind them. She urges them to become leaders who inspire positive change.

Naimo, alongside other graduands, will officially graduate on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024, during KIU’s 30th graduation ceremony at the Main Campus in Kansanga.
