KIU's Alex Kachwano Shines at Global Physicians’ Conference

KIU Western Campus – Kampala International University’s Alex Kachwano won plaudits at the 2nd Global Association of Clinical Officers and Physician Association (GACOPA) International Delegates and Scientific Conference held in Kigali, Rwanda, over the weekend.

The conference, which took place at the National University of Rwanda, was held under the theme, “Maximising the impact of the Clinical Officer” and was attended by delegates from all over the world.

Kachwano (pictured above), a graduate of Bachelor of Clinical Medicine at KIU presented on the "Factors contributing to the high prevalence of malaria and resulting deaths from the disease." His presentation also analyzed complicated malaria among children under five years of age at KIU Teaching Hospital.

The conference brought together clinical officers and physician associates from all over the world, as they seek to find universal recognition as health practitioners in their own right.

The three-day conference was also attended by Patrick Mpiima and Prof. John Charles Kirya, the Registrar and Chairman of the Allied Health Professionals Council, respectively.
