KIU, Western Campus – The Ministry of Health has embarked on a vigorous sensitization drive of leaders and communities on the dangers posed by COVID-19 and how to mitigate them, the ministry has announced on its social media platforms.

The Ministry of Health top management is doing routine support supervision in the Lango sub-region. The teams will visit Apac, Kole, Lira, Amolatar and Dokolo districts.

Today August 27, the Minister of Health, Dr Jane Ruth Aceng and Permanent Secretary, Dr Diana Atwine have officiated at a COVID-19 Sensitization Meeting for Spiritual Leaders (Born Again Faith) of Lango sub-region at All Nations in Lira City.

On August 26, the Ag. Commissioner in Charge of Health Promotion and Education, Dr Richard Kabanda engaged with staff and political leaders and key community leaders at Namasale Sub-County in Amolatar District on promoting health and preventing diseases amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

This latest sensitization drive is an effort by the Ministry to get people back to respecting the SOPs it put in place to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 among communities after a spike in positive cases which followed the easing of lockdown restrictions by the government.
