PhD in Public Health (By Research)
Objectives the Programme
A doctoral degree shall be awarded to individuals who have demonstrated the ability to apply a substantial body of knowledge to research, investigate and develop new knowledge, in their fields of study/investigation, scholarship or professional practice. KIU shall confer a PhD degree to students who can:
- Show a systematic comprehension, independent and in-depth understanding of a discipline with a mastery of skills and research processes related to the field of study.
- Contribute to the original research that broadens the boundary of knowledge through an in-depth thesis and defence.
- Use intellectual independence to think critically, evaluate existing knowledge and ideas, undertake systematic investigations and reflect on theory and practice to generate original knowledge.
- Communicate with peers, scholarly communities and society at large concerning the field of expertise.
- Demonstrate ability to use technologies and make appropriate innovations.
- Take leadership in the area of expertise in evaluating and making decisions in situations with limited information while considering social responsibilities and related ethics.
- Engage in current academic and professional debates and will significantly contribute to the well-being of the community by addressing contemporary societal challenges.
