Dr. Bot, Yakubu Sunday (MMLS, PGDE, AIMLS) is a distinguished medical laboratory scientist, academic leader, and health researcher with more than two decades of professional experience in healthcare, academic leadership, and research. He currently serves as the Assistant Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance and Administration) at Kampala International University, Uganda, where he provides strategic leadership in financial management, institutional planning, and administrative governance.

Dr. Bot has built an extensive career in higher education and healthcare systems across Africa, combining strong expertise in clinical laboratory science, academic administration, and institutional development. Prior to his current leadership role, he served as Dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences at Kampala International University, where he provided academic and operational leadership for programmes in medical laboratory science, physiotherapy, radiography, and public health.

He has also served as Head of Department of Medical Laboratory Science at KIU, where he oversaw curriculum development, quality assurance, teaching and research activities, staff development, and the integration of innovative teaching methods including blended learning and competency-based education.

With over 10 years of academic teaching and research experience, Dr. Bot has lectured at several institutions including Kampala International University, Federal University Lafia, and the University of Jos in Nigeria. His teaching portfolio spans multiple areas including clinical chemistry, toxicology, immunology, endocrinology, pathology, and laboratory medicine. He has also supervised numerous postgraduate theses in medical laboratory science, public health, and clinical medicine.

Dr. Bot holds a PhD in Chemical Pathology (Medical Laboratory Science) from Imo State University, Nigeria, a Master’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science (Immunology) from Ambrose Alli University, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Kampala International University. His research interests focus on natural products and nutraceuticals, neurodegenerative diseases, toxicology, molecular diagnostics, and public health research.

A prolific scholar, he has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and academic publications, as well as textbooks in chemical pathology and laboratory medicine. His research contributions span areas such as toxicology, metabolic diseases, herbal medicine research, biochemical biomarkers, and environmental health.

Dr. Bot is an active member of several professional organizations including the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria, the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria, the Chemical Society of Nigeria, and international research networks.
Through his academic, administrative, and research work, Dr. Bot continues to contribute to the advancement of health sciences education, laboratory medicine, and institutional leadership in higher education.
