KIU, Main Campus – The 11th Parliament of Uganda has today, Monday 31st been officially inducted on the Rules of Procedure of Parliament.  

According to a tweet by the Parliament's official Twitter account, the induction process is expected to run from today through to Wednesday, June 2.

The new Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah, while opening the Parliamentary Session said that “The will of the majority must carry. Majority is not necessarily the decision of the biggest party. Let us not think majorities and minorities is about parties. It will depend on the issue at hand.”

He went on to say that, “We process more business when the House is happy. We do less when the House is angry. The Deputy Speaker and I will try to make this a happy House.”

With that, he officially opened the 11th Parliament which will consist of 529 MPs.
