22 KIU Students Selected for the Prestigious UN Millennium Fellowship

KIU, Western Campus - Kampala International University (KIU) is proud to announce that 22 of its students have been selected to join the 2025 cohort of the Millennium Fellowship, a global leadership development initiative presented by the United Nations Academic Impact and the Millennium Campus Network (MCN).

This semester-long program empowers emerging leaders to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through collaborative action and campus-based innovation. Fellows convene regularly to exchange ideas, challenge each other, and implement impactful projects that address pressing global challenges.

A Global Stage for Student Leadership

This year, over 60,000 students from 8,000+ campuses across 160+ countries applied to join the Class of 2025. Only 4% of campuses—just 290 institutions in 47 countries—were selected to host the Fellowship. KIU is honored to be among this distinguished group.

Each campus cohort, typically comprising 8 to 20+ Fellows, meets at least eight times during the semester to:

  • Share best practices
  • Develop a collective action plan
  • Launch initiatives such as sustainability campaigns or community outreach programs

Upon successful completion of the program and fulfilment of their goals, Fellows receive a Certificate of Recognition jointly awarded by the United Nations Academic Impact and MCN.
