KIU INVITES THE PUBLIC FOR A BOOK PRESENTATION ON CRIMINAL LAW IN UGANDA

Kampala International University (KIU) hereby invites the public for a book presentation on CRIMINAL LAW IN UGANDA by Dr. IFEOLU JOHN KONI; a Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (TAC) Volunteer to Uganda. The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday 3rd October 2019, at 10:00 am (EAT), in the Senate Board Room at the Iddi Basajjabalaba Memorial Library (IBML), in her Main Campus in Kansanga-Ggaba Road, Kampala, Uganda.

Having taught CRIMINAL LAW as a course for over a year in Uganda and for several years in Nigeria, Dr. Koni saw a need to write a book on the INTRODUCTION TO CRIMINAL LAW IN UGANDA, to provide a guide and possibly meet the need of students and other academics in the area of CRIMINAL LAW, with regards to Uganda as a country.

PROFESSIONAL PROFILE OF DR. IFEOLU JOHN KONI

Dr. Ifeolu John Koni is a Senior Lecturer and Technical Aid Corps (TAC) Volunteer deployed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, Nigeria, to the prestigious School of Law, Kampala International University (KIU), Kampala, Uganda. Formerly Acting Head, Department of Public and International Law, Faculty of Law, Osun State University, Osogbo, Nigeria, Dr. Koni obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from the University of Ilorin (Unilorin), Nigeria, with Second Class Honours (Upper Division). He also obtained the Master of Laws (LLM), Master of Philosophy (MPhil.) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degrees in Law from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Nigeria. His MPhil. Degree in Law at OAU, Ile-Ife, was obtained with Distinction. He is a recipient of six academic laurels, including the Honourable Justice Mustapha Akanbi Prize for being the Overall Best Graduating Student in his set at Unilorin.

He is the author of Appreciating Criminal Law in Nigeria, Introduction to Criminal Law in Uganda, and (co-author of) Jurisprudence and Legal Theory in Nigeria. Currently the Editor-in-Chief of Kampala International University Law Journal (KIULJ), Dr. Koni has published numerous articles in learned journals nationally and internationally. He has also supervised many graduate and undergraduate students in different branches of the Law. A journalist turned lawyer and native of Idanre, Ondo State, South-West Nigeria, Dr. Koni is married to Adepeju Anike and their union is blessed with wonderful children.
