KIU, Main Campus - The Rotaract Club of Kampala International University has held a virtual inauguration ceremony of Opportunity President Ronald Nyombi.  The event that took place on Saturday, August 8, was live-streamed on Zoom and the club's social media platforms from Hotel International Muyenga.

While hosting this handover ceremony for the first time virtually, the brunch spirit and enthusiasm of the day was a preventive measure to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Before looking to the future, the outgoing Connecting President Everline Lumonya shared the accomplishments and recognized some of the Rotaractors, administration of Kampala International University and the Rotary Club of Muyenga who made significant contributions during the past year.

"I sincerely thank you all my friends for the love, support and guidance. This has been a journey of immeasurable happiness. Some have called or sent in messages to check on me and see how I was fairing with the Presidency while others offered resources to the projects,'' Lumonya said.

In President Nyombi’s acceptance speech,  he outlined his goals for the coming year and encouraged members to be creative.

“The upcoming Rotary year may look a little different but I see this as an opportunity to use innovation and be creative with our ideas on membership, our community projects, fundraising, and fellowships,” he said.

"I still believe during this year we can grow Rotary to ensure that our club remains committed to service, fellowship, diversity, integrity, membership engagement, retention and leadership,” he added

The guest of honour, Rotarian Hon. Mike Kennedy Sebalu from Rotary Club of Bukoto and Opportunity President Hannifer Musoke from Rotary Club of Muyenga commended the club for maintaining the position on an outstanding institutional club.

As an institution based club, the Rotaract Club of Kampala International University focuses on local projects in Literacy, Youth, Health, Academics, charity and Community Service.
