COVID-19 updates: 19 new Cases as Alerts Continue to Rise

The Ministry of Health has this afternoon announced 19 new COVID-19 cases in Uganda out of the 3,199 samples tested on August 12, bringing the cumulative cases in the country to 1,332.

The number of alerts continues to dominate the daily case total with 11 alerts from communities testing positive out of the total of 19 cases.

4 alerts are from Kampala Metropolitan Area, 3 from Namisindwa district and one each from Buikwe, Mbale, Kasese and Wakiso districts.

3 Ugandan truck drivers also tested positive while 5 contacts, 4 from Kampala and one from Wakiso, who were in quarantine at the time the tests were done, also tested positive.

24 foreign truck drivers, including Kenyans, Congolese and Tanzanians tested positive at the border points of entry and were not allowed to enter the country.

One more person recovered yesterday, bringing the country’s total recoveries to 1,139 and the number of deaths still stands at 9.
