KIU, Main Campus - On 14th December 2020, Google applications that include Gmail, Youtube, and Docs went offline in a rare service outage. Users were unable to access many of the company's services.

As it was, the outage started shortly before noon, with Google sites returning 'server errors' when visited.

Many users around the world took to social media to reveal troubles with Gmail, Google Drive, the Android Play Store, Maps, and more.

Canary Mugume, a Journalist and reporter at NBS TV, a national television station, also took to Twitter and said, “GMAIL is down.” This sparked off many conversations, with others reporting the same problem.

Besides, millions of people and businesses depend on Google services for basic work apps such as email and calendars.

Inspite of the widespread outage, Google's service dashboard for its services announced no errors.

Fortunately, all services were back online and in service by evening time.
