KIU Student Bags Gold Medal for Uganda at East Africa Karate Championships

Shua'ib Nabila Dahir, a Nigerian, realized her lifelong ambition to become a doctor on November 29th, 2025, when she was awarded a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (BMS) degree during Kampala International University's (KIU) 32nd graduation ceremony.
Dahir's time at KIU taught her resilience, discipline, and adaptability. "Every clinical rotation taught me something new and strengthened my passion for the medical profession," she said.
Reflecting on her experience, Dahir attributes her personal and professional development to the supportive and diverse environment at KIU. She emphasized, "The diversity at KIU has been a blessing," explaining that learning from people of various cultures broadened her perspective.
Dahir offered simple yet powerful advice for those still on their academic journey: trust in a higher power and commit to the process. "Trust Allah, stay consistent, and remember that every effort will pay off in the end," she shared.
As she looks back on her journey, Dahir is grateful for the support system that helped her achieve her dreams. "I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to my parents, siblings, friends, loved ones, and well-wishers. Thank you all for your endless support, prayers, and encouragement throughout this journey."
With her degree in hand, Dahir is ready to take on the challenges of the medical field. Her story inspires aspiring doctors and students, reminding them that with hard work, determination, and faith, anything is possible.
"Life isn't always easy, but it's full of lessons, ups and downs, growth, and unforgettable experiences," she said, noting that each challenge made her stronger and more appreciative of the journey.
