KIU, Main Campus-KIU will play Buganda Royal University in the semifinals of the national beach soccer league championship as they look to conclude the season with glory.

It has been an impressive run for KIU all season long, one reason why they are tipped to be favourites and they have to beat Buganda Royal to equal and better their 2018 performance when they lost to St Lawrence in the finals.

St Lawrence University plays Makerere University Business school (MUBS) in the other semifinal match on Saturday afternoon. Should they win, a repeat of 2018 final will be on the cards if KIU does better against Buganda Royal and this will present the Kansanga outfit, with a chance to avenge their 2018 humiliation.

KIU and St Lawrence faced off at the group stage where St Lawrence beat every member in the moonson group where Coach Jeff Akabwai's KIU side finished second after winning four out of eight matches.

There is no doubt, the fact that st Lawrence is still a top favourite and somewhat a  wonderful team gives any other side a second thought in pursuit of the title but once well prepared, one can claim victory at the end of this week. KIU is capable of this.

Coach Akabwai is expected to choose his cream de la cream from a 14-man squad that includes; Joshua Adea, Moses Opio, Jackson Muwanguzi, Ssempa Kyobe, Espirito Muwonge, Okollo Kinonso, Bashir Babu, Brighton Asiimwe, Daniel Ekoyu, Isaac Ishioke, Uche Mufutao, Cypria Cyprian Okello, Isaac Odeke and Farouk Banga.

These players have been around at all costs and have given it all their best for the good of KIU this season and their main goal now is a national glory as they head to a do-or-die end of affairs.
