KIU International Desk: India Becomes 3rd Worst hit Nation Globally

KIU, Main Campus-India has reported more than 23,000 new Coronavirus cases becoming the third most hit country globally behind Brazil with 1.6m cases and the United States with 2.88 million cases.

The country has now recorded a total of 697,000 cases, 424,433, recoveries and 19,693 deaths, it is assumed that the rising number of cases is a reflection in the increased testing across the cities in the recent weeks according to the local media.

India started gradually lifting its strict lockdown in June, despite the increasing cases with the mandatory wearing of face masks to revive the economy .with schools, gyms, International flights and swimming pools remain closed.

Maharashtra is the worst-hit state and home to the financial hub Mumbai, recorded over 7,000 new cases while Southern Tamil Nadu State and Delhi recorded more than 4,200 and 2,500 new cases respectively.

Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai, Tamil Nadu’s capital, are the worst-affected cities.
