KIU, Main Campus -KIU Rangers closed the first round of the 2023 NBLW season with a comfortable 82-44 victory over Nabisunsa girls on Sunday morning at the YMCA court in Wandegeya to bring the team's record to 8-3.

The victory See's the Rangers up to third on the table with 19 points and have scored the highest number of points (827) in the Women's league. They are just one point below the leader's JT Lady Jaguars.

Sunday's win was the sixth in a row for the high-flying Rangers who have also scored at least 80 and above points in each of all the last six games.

Despite missing the services of Ines Kanyamuneza and Ninette Uwineza, the Rangers still had nothing to worry about as Sharon Kirabo stepped up and inspired them to victory with an incredible 16 points and seven rebounds.

Top scorer Diana Letaru wasn't at her usual best, scoring nine points and 11 rebounds but her in-form compatriot, Mary Moses Amaniyo maintained her impressive performance scoring a double-double of 14 points and the game's highest 15 rebounds.

Fildauce Namuleme and Perus Nyamwenge were also in double figures with 12 and 11 points respectively.

KIU Rangers have lost only once, against UCU lady Canons since Julius Lutwama and Joseph Chuma took charge, replacing Roger Serunyigo who left the club after the first four games of the season.
