KIU, Main Campus — KIU Rangers return to action tonight with a tough test against defending champions JKL Lady Dolphins in the Women’s National Basketball League at YMCA Court, Wandegeya. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Rangers head into the contest seeking redemption following consecutive losses to Miracle Eaglets and KCCA Leopards.
The results have seen the Rangers drop to seventh on the table with a 4-6 record, increasing the urgency to bounce back and reignite their campaign.
Tonight presents an opportunity for KIU to make a strong statement against one of the league’s top sides. However, the challenge is significant.
JKL Lady Dolphins have once again underlined their championship pedigree this season. The reigning champions sit fourth in the standings with an impressive 8-1 record, having lost just once in nine outings. Their consistency, depth, and experience make them one of the most formidable teams in the competition.
Recent history also favours JKL. The Rangers’ last victory over the Lady Dolphins came in the opening game of the 2023 finals series, inspired by Perus Nyamwenge. JKL went on to dominate the series 4-1 and secure the title.
Despite the odds, KIU will be determined to rise to the occasion in front of their supporters. A victory tonight would not only end their losing streak but also provide a crucial boost in confidence as the season progresses.
All eyes will be on the Rangers as they seek to deliver a spirited performance and turn their fortunes around.
