Kampala International University (KIU) is set to host an Information and Technology (IT) Expo, running from 25th to 27th March 2020. The three-day expo, which is to be held at the KIU main campus in Kansanga, will showcase innovations in health, e-commerce, and pay wallets among other things. The expo will be graced by both civil society organisations and government leaders whose main aim is to build capacity of young Ugandan IT professionals to develop products for use by the public.

Addressing journalists on key issues, including the upcoming expo on Friday, 14th February 2020, KIU Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Mouhamad Mpezamihigo said the upcoming event is an opportunity to market indigenous technologies and promote mature applications.

The expo follows the recently successful “INSPIRED 2020’ African Women in Technology (AWIT) International Conference which was held from 7th to 8th February 2020 at the university grounds.

Dr. Mpezamihigo, who is a strong proponent of the IT sector at KIU, said the expo also aims at  deepening collaboration with other development partners, the government, and the private sector, whilst availing business networking opportunities to KIU’s technical experts.

During the Expo, students will also show off their technology and innovative ideas which help to ease and solve the day-to-day difficulties faced by individuals in this modern society.

"The expo will allow students to showcase their innovative projects and make presentations in front of an esteemed panel of experts and academics audiences," said the Vice Chancellor.

With all these efforts and strategies, one only has to look forward to KIU marking and maintaining her place as the leading private university in Uganda.
