It was a very fruitful weekend for KIU’s basketball teams as both KIU Titans and KIU Rangers came away with big victories in their weekend National Basketball League games.

Titans were the big winners after seeing off newly-promoted Namuwongo Blazers 78 – 68 on Saturday before obliterating a hapless UPDF Tomahawks side 85 – 62 on Sunday.

Starman Faisal Aiden was once again in the mix of things, inspiring the Titans in both games, including a game-high 20 point performance against Nam Blazers.

Kenyan international Ariel Okall finally came out of his shell and lived up to his reputation after notching 18 points and 18 rebounds against the Blazers.

One of the leading favourites for this season’s title, the Titans had to follow up the victory over their neighbours with a similar or better performance against UPDF and they did just that as they thrashed the soldiers, beating them by a spectacular 23 points.

Meanwhile, Rangers faltered against champions JKL Dolphins on Saturday but regained their form just in time to thrash Nabisunsa 98 – 27.

However, Coach Roger Sseruyingo has to work on the consistency of his side if they are to retain the title after their second loss of the season.
