KIU, Main Campus - KIU Titans made a strong start to life in the FUBA Division One league, securing back-to-back victories over the weekend at the Kampala International University basketball court in Kansanga.

The Titans opened their campaign with an impressive 67-49 victory over Livingstone Basketball Club on Saturday before edging Nkumba Marines 68–66 on Sunday to make it two wins from two games.

Saturday’s win marked a historic moment for the Titans, who were playing their first game in Division One and their first competitive home fixture since May 2023.

Guard Chieng Garang, popularly known as Chwezi, wasted no time announcing KIU’s arrival in the division. Garang put the Titans on the scoreboard within the opening 20 seconds, calmly converting two free throws to record the team’s first-ever basket in Division One.

Just 15 seconds later, Garang added a three-pointer to give the Pride of Kansanga early momentum as the hosts took control of the contest.

Despite resistance from Livingstone, the Titans maintained their composure and headed into halftime with a 34–28 lead.
The side coached by Julius Lutwama continued to dictate the tempo in the second half, steadily widening the gap while limiting Livingstone’s scoring opportunities.

The visitors struggled to keep pace as the Titans’ defense and rebounding dominance ensured they never threatened a comeback.

Garang and Danie Odokonyero led the scoring for KIU with 16 points each, while new signing Richard Mutawulu controlled the paint, finishing with a game-high seven rebounds.

The Titans returned to the court on Sunday and were pushed to the limit by Nkumba Marines in a closely contested matchup. KIU held their nerve in the closing moments to secure a narrow 68–66 victory and maintain their perfect start to the season.

The two wins give the Titans early momentum as they pursue their ambition of earning promotion to the National Basketball League.
