KIU, Main Campus – On 24th March 2020, the University held a successful online demo-senate meeting via a remote conferencing service. The meeting was chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Dr Mohammad Mpezamihigo, with the purpose of testing the practicality of having a virtual senate meeting on 26th March 2020.

The aim is to keep university business going despite the shutdown. It was a very successful demo, which has laid standard online meeting procedures, ready for the scheduled Senate meeting.

“In addition to advising all our students to stay safe at home, virtual meetings are another measure that KIU has employed to help her community to safely and successfully transition to a remote work environment” said Dr. Mpezamihigo.

Additionally, the Vice Chancellor advised Ugandans to take all the necessary precautions to stay safe during this challenging time: “We are all in this fight together. We must remain vigilant and in compliance with presidential directives on combating the potential spread of Coronavirus.”
