KIU's Peter Maswi to Participate in October Tanzanian General Election

KIU, Main Campus – Kampala International University law student, Peter Maswi, has announced his intention to stand in the Tanzanian General Election slated for October 28.October.

Maswi is contesting for the position of Ward Councilor for Irunga in the elections under the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party ticket and says he is confident that he has what it takes to win. 

Maswi is a proven leader who has already been engaged in several projects like Generation Engage Network, a non-profit organization focusing on social, economic and civic empowerment where he is co-founder and Director of Operations. 

He is also a Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI)  fellow and Regional Leadership Centre East Africa, cohort 37 alumnus; an MP of the East Africa Youth Parliament(2018-2020), and is also the President of the Tanzania Students Association in Uganda(2019-20). 

He is also actively involved in advocating for the rights of the less privileged using his knowledge of the law.
