KIU, MAIN CAMPUS – On Friday, 26th September 2025, Kampala International University (KIU) welcomed Pastor Patience Museveni Rwabwogo of Covenant Nations Church to officially launch the KIU Christian Union Fellowship (KIU-CU)—a unifying body for all student fellowships across the university.
Addressing a packed hall of students, faculty, administrators and guests, Pastor Patience M. Rwabwogo emphasized the spiritual significance of university life, calling it a season of critical decision-making and personal transformation.
“University is where many of us make the most important decisions of our lives,” she said. “It is an honor and a privilege to be here with you today, to share from my own journey and encourage you in yours.”
She reflected on her own university experience 24 years ago, describing it as a time of spiritual awakening.
“It was a simpler time—before 9-1-1, before smartphones and social media. The internet was just beginning to shape society. But beyond academics, those four years were pivotal. That is when the Lord began to work out His purpose in me. I made decisions that shaped the path I walk today.”

Pastor Patience M. Rwabwogo also spoke candidly about the challenges facing young Christians today, including moral relativism, digital distractions, and cultural shifts.
“My two eldest children are at university now. They are Christians navigating a world that has grown cold to spiritual things. Every day, they must choose whether to follow the Lord or follow the world. That is the same choice you face.”
Quoting 2 Timothy 3:1–5, she warned of the perilous times described by Apostle Paul and urged students to stand firm in their faith.
“We are called to be the light, not to look like the darkness. If we blend in, we lose our influence. This fellowship is a beacon. It will be a spiritual home for encouragement and equipping.”
The launch was graced by several university leaders, including Dr. Mustafa Mundu, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, who welcomed Pastor Patience M. Rwabwogo with heartfelt appreciation.
“It is our great pleasure to host you, Pastor Patience Rwabwogo, a distinguished champion of the gospel,” he said. “Your presence reaffirms the role of higher education in shaping not just skilled professionals, but ethical, God-fearing leaders.”
Dr. Mundu emphasized KIU’s commitment to freedom of worship and moral integrity.
“We believe that competence must be matched with character. A graduate without ethical values can do more harm than good. That is why we teach honesty, accountability, responsibility, and uphold zero tolerance for corruption.”

Janet Nanyondo, Lecturer and Patron of the Christian Union Fellowship, described the launch as a milestone in KIU’s spiritual journey.
“Our union is more than a gathering. It is a community bound by faith, love, and service,” she said. “We are united in purpose and vision, and we will support, pray, and serve together.”
Guild President Major Aineplani praised the university’s support for student-led initiatives.
“KIU is home to diverse cultures and religions, yet today we celebrate a shared belief. That is a powerful testament to unity.”
Jimmy Akanshemeza, the first Chairperson of the Christian Union Fellowship further expressed gratitude and hope.
“God has been faithful in bringing us to this moment. To the incoming leadership, I pray you build a church for God. And I thank KIU for giving us the grounds to worship and spread the gospel.”

The ceremony concluded with Pastor Patience M. Rwabwogo praying over the new leadership and planting a commemorative tree, a symbolic gesture of growth, rooted faith, and enduring legacy.
