KIU, Western Campus – The Ministry of Health through the Health Service Commission is recruiting 31 health workers for its COVID-19 emergency response.

The advertisement for the positions of Special grade medical officers in obstetrics and gynaecology (7), paediatrics (7), anaesthesiology (15) and radiology (2) was placed on 27th April by the Health Service Commission.

Interested candidates were encouraged to send their soft copy applications by email to [email protected] not later than Wednesday 29th April 2020.

Public servants and those on full-time training are not eligible for these positions. The Uganda health sector, despite realizing some achievements in the fight against COVID-19, is still considered understaffed.

The World Health Organization recently warned that most African health systems were ill-equipped to handle a full-blown COVID-19 outbreak, in terms of logistics and personnel.
