SEAS Shines at KIU-WC 2026 Inter-Faculty Sports Gala

SEAS Shines at KIU-WC 2026 Inter-Faculty Sports Gala

KIU, Western Campus - From February 20 to 23, 2026, Kampala International University, Western Campus (KIU-WC) hosted a successful Inter-Faculty Sports Gala. The event, organized by the Office of the Dean of Students Affairs, brought together students from various faculties to compete in football, netball, basketball, darts, chess, athletics, and more.

The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) emerged as the Winner with 62 points, Faculty of Biomedical Sciences took the second position with 60 points, while School of Pharmacy secured third place with 58 points.

Other faculties ranked as follows:

  • School of Nursing: 55 points
  • Faculty of Clinical Medicine and Dentistry: 54 points
  • School of Allied Health Sciences: 46 points
  • Faculty of Business and Management & Faculty of Education: 30 points
  • Faculty of Science and Technology: 19 points
  • School of Law: 14 points

The School of Nursing stamped its authority on the netball court, powering its way to gold, while Pharmacy put up a strong fight to secure silver. Allied Health Sciences rounded off the podium with a hard‑earned bronze.

On the basketball court, it was Biomedical Sciences who stole the show, dominating their way to gold. Nursing continued its impressive form with a silver finish, as Pharmacy claimed bronze after a spirited run.

But the track belonged to Pharmacy, who turned athletics into their own showcase, sprinting away with gold. Nursing kept the pressure on with a solid second‑place finish, while SEAS clinched third, proving their strength in the field.

In football, Clinical Medicine and Dentistry topped the rankings with gold, SEAS followed closely with silver, and Allied Health Sciences secured bronze.

The scrabble board was hot, with Pharmacy claiming the top spot with gold, Biomedical Sciences taking silver, and SEAS grabbing bronze.

In chess, Biomedical Sciences checked their way to gold, SEAS strategized their way to silver, and Clinical Medicine and Dentistry settled for bronze.

SEAS spiked their way to volleyball gold, Biomedical Sciences served up silver, and Allied Health Sciences dug their way to bronze.

Speaking at the event, Dean of Students Affairs, Hadijah Nantale, lauded the university management for their support, as well as the support team and participants for making the gala a success.

"We were thrilled with the success of this year's Inter-Faculty Sports Gala. The enthusiasm and teamwork displayed by the students were truly inspiring," she said.

Representing the university's management, Dr. Joe Ojera Mutebi, Director Academic Affairs (DAA), highlighted plans to modify the playground to improve future events.

"Events like these are crucial in fostering a culture of sportsmanship and team spirit among our students. We are committed to ensuring that our facilities are conducive to such events, and we will be making modifications to the playground to enhance the experience for our students. Great job, everyone!"

The Sports Gala came to a close with a glittering award ceremony, where medals and trophies were presented to the exceptional performers. It was a resounding success, showcasing the vibrant spirit of competition and camaraderie among KIU-WC students.
