‘Whose Problem Can I Solve?’ — Asirafu Akanyijuka Empowers Ugandan Businesses Online

Ugandan businesses are finding their footing in the digital age thanks to Kampala International University (KIU) student Asirafu Akanyijuka, founder of Keni Web Design. His agency, based in Kampala, is helping companies build professional websites, launch e-commerce platforms, and grow their visibility through SEO and digital marketing.

At the heart of his journey lies a question he learned at KIU: “Whose problem can I solve with what I know?” That mindset has guided him from student leader to entrepreneur, and it continues to shape the way he empowers businesses today.

Building Uganda’s Digital Future

Keni Web Design offers services that address the most pressing needs of modern enterprises:

  • Website Design & Development with Next.js, React, WordPress, and Shopify.
  • E-commerce Solutions with secure payments and inventory management.
  • SEO Strategies to boost visibility and generate leads.
  • Digital Marketing across social media, content, and advertising.
  • Branding & Identity for consistent, professional storytelling.
  • Website Maintenance to ensure security and performance.
  • Business Automation to streamline operations and cut costs.

Akanyijuka insists that his agency is not just about websites but about digital strategies that deliver results. “Our clients’ success is our success,” he says.

From Student to Entrepreneur

In 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Akanyijuka launched Keni Web Design with little more than a laptop and determination. The biggest hurdle was convincing Ugandan business owners that a website was not a luxury but a necessity. Through persistence, quality delivery, and word-of-mouth referrals, he built trust and steadily grew his client base.

His leadership as former Minister of Information Technology in the KIU Guild Union and his academic training in Bachelor of Information Technology gave him both the networks and technical foundation to succeed.

KIU’s Philosophy in Action

KIU believes universities should produce leaders, not just graduates. Akanyijuka embodies that conviction — combining knowledge, confidence, and curiosity to bridge the gap between technology and market needs.

Looking Ahead

As internet penetration rises and mobile commerce reshapes East Africa, Keni Web Design is positioning itself as a catalyst for digital transformation. By equipping businesses with tools to thrive online, Akanyijuka is not only building a company but contributing to Uganda’s broader economic future.
