Bachelor of Pharmacy

Admission Requirements

Five (5) entry points are available for persons wishing to enter the Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) degree programme: 

 

Holders of Advanced (“A “) Level Certificate:  

In order to be eligible for direct entry into the B. Pharm degree programme, a candidate must have:

1.    Sat and passed the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or equivalent and obtained credit passes in at least five (5) subjects taken at the same sitting including English, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics or Physics, and any other one subject. 

2.    Sat and passed the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent and obtained principal passes in both Biology and Chemistry, and at least one (1) subsidiary pass in either Physics, Mathematics or Agriculture.

 

Holders of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE):

In order to be eligible for direct entry into the B. Pharm degree programme, a candidate must:   

1.    Hold a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum mean grade of C+. 

2.    Have obtained at least a C+ in each of the four cluster subjects shown below:

Holders of School Certificates Graded in Percentages and Average Points 

In order to be eligible for direct entry into the B.Pharm degree programme, a candidate whose final high school marks are graded in percentages and average point systems such as in Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rwanda and Burundi must have their grades first equated before seeking KIU admission.

 

Holders of Diploma in Biomedical Sciences:

In order to be eligible for admission into the B.Pharm degree programme, a candidate must:

1.    Have a diploma or its equivalent in a health related field such as Pharmacy Technician, Pharmaceutical Technology, Clinical Medicine, Medical Laboratory Technology, Radiography, Public

Health, Dental Health, Nursing Education, Nursing Administration, Registered Nursing, Registered Midwifery, Registered Psychiatric Nursing, and Registered Comprehensive Nursing.

2.    Be registered with the relevant professional council of the home country. 

 

Holders of Degrees in Science Disciplines: 

In order to be eligible for admission into the B. Pharm degree programme, a candidate must:

1.    Possess a degree in a science discipline, at least at the level of second-class lower division or its equivalent.

2.    Have obtained the above qualification from an institution of higher learning recognized by KIU senate.
