10 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed from the 3,577 samples tested on August 5, the Ministry of Health has announced in a statement.

Of the 10 cases, 7 were alerts and contacts of previously confirmed cases- 6 from Namisindwa district and another from Kibuli, Kampala- while 3 cases are from truck drivers tested at the border points of entry. No positive tests were found among the returnees from abroad. 11 foreign truck drivers who tested positive were returned to their countries of origin.

This means that Uganda’s cumulative COVID-19 positive cases have now risen to 1,223, with 1.102 recoveries out of the 288,367 total samples tested to date.
